Sonnet for Climbing Back Out
Featuring: Iambic Pentameter
I once wished only for the sweet release Of death to take me far away from here My mind alight for anyone who sees My soul ascending through the broken air I once imagined life without this pain Who would I be were I not such a fool? And would I, there, not grapple with my brain? And would life there, maybe, not be as cruel? I’ve always wished to leave all this behind But I cannot keep wishing any longer The only world I have to me is mine And punishment has only made me stronger So hear me now, my past and broken heart And love again, this world, as a new start.
I’ve had Shakespeare on the mind. It turns out iambic pentameter is actually super fun!
